How Do You Rate Things?
As much as I try to be objective, my rating system is obviously very subjective. But there is SOME method to my madness, so I thought it would be prudent to provide some understanding of it. I try to base my ratings on context. You can't hold the same standard for a diner the same way you would for a restaurant that's received a Michelin Star. The same can be said for movies. Some movies are meant to be silly, and some movies are meant to be serious. This rating system then, is based on my expectations of any given area.
Movies:
A: Go out, watch it NOW
B: If you get the chance, you should go watch
C: Stream It, Rent It, Just don't go to the cinema to watch it.
D: Watch it if you really have nothing else better to do
F: All copies of this movie should be burned.
Restaurants:
It's hard to give just ONE letter grade for a restaurant. Sometimes the service is good, but the food is bad. Sometimes the service and food are great, but it's so garish you probably want to eat with a blindfold. So here are my categories.
Ambiance : The look / feel of the restaurant
Cleanliness : Perceived cleanliness of the eating area (and if I happen to use the potty)
Service : If the staff is professional, courteous, and friendly
Taste : How badly I want to run and expunge the contents presented to my mouth
Presentation : How well it looks when it's brought to be served
Price : How much lighter my wallet is after leaving the restaurant
Overall : A final overview of my dining experience.
$: Cheap Eats
$$: Moderately Priced
$$$: Not - So - Moderately Priced
$$$$: If I keep eating here, my kids won't have a college fund.
1: Epic Fail
2: Below Expectations
3: Meets Expectations
4: Exceeds Expectations
5: I had no idea that it could be this divine.
